Hello OG Swim Team Family,My name is Jessie Laney and I was a swimmer at OG and coached for 9 seasons. Sadly 2012 was my last summer coaching when I realized a full time job and coaching summer swimming was nearly impossible to manage. I truly miss coaching and have loved popping down to a meet or two each summer since then. I am writing to you all to invite you to participate in the 8th Annual Run Jen Run 5K & Festival (5K, fun run for kids, and kids zone) on March 7 at Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall. The race is one of the signature events for the Go Jen Go Foundation started by Jen and Joe Pagani. They started Go Jen Go after seeing women and families less fortunate struggling financially, while fighting breast cancer. I met Jen when coaching her two sons, Rocco and Luca, on our OG swim team and they are/were students at Beverly Woods. She was an amazing woman who during treatment didn't miss a meet, shared her competitiveness with her boys and found ways to serve others. You don't have to be a runner to be part of the race- you can walk, skip or dance your way through one of the best courses in Charlotte and then hang out at the festival afterwards. Donate Today Sign of Hope: Within the festival area we have Jen’s Garden of Hope, where we honor and remember those who are fighting or fought breast cancer. Signs of Hope are placed all around with the names of our loved ones. After the race you are welcome to take home your Signs of Hope you have purchased. Purchase a Sign of Hope. Coach Brenda Mac, is offering spring stroke clinics right up the road at Fairmeadows pool (they have a bubble), Sunday nights from 6pm-7pm. This is a great opportunity to meet Coach Brenda and brush up on stroke technique and flip turns.
