Welcome from the OG Coaches!
Dear OG Swim Team Families,
Please read this letter from our coaches & some important reminders below!
We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you as we kick off another exciting season with our amazing Swim Team! Whether you're returning veterans or new faces eager to dive into the action, we are honored to have you all on board for what promises to be an exciting journey.
First and foremost, we want to express our gratitude for choosing to be a part of the OG swim team family. It's a privilege to lead such a dedicated group of athletes, parents, and supporters who share a passion for swimming and a commitment to excellence. Together, we form a community bound by the love of the sport and the pursuit of personal and team goals. We know there are lots of other swim team options out there as well as alternate activities, and it truly means a lot to us that you continue to choose OG.
As head coaches, our primary goal is to create a positive and enriching experience for each swimmer. We believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential while falling in love with the sport of swimming. Whether your aim is to improve your stroke technique, set new personal records, or simply have fun in the water, our coaching staff is here to guide and support your swimmer every step of the way.
Throughout the season, you can expect a combination of rigorous training, friendly competition, and plenty of camaraderie. But beyond the pool, our team also emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development. We believe that the lessons learned through swimming extend far beyond the lanes and contribute to the growth and success of our athletes both in and out of the water.
We encourage all families to actively participate and contribute to the success of our team. Whether it's volunteering at meets, cheering from the sidelines, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, your involvement is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Together, we can create an unforgettable summer filled with memories, achievements, and lasting friendships.
We have some incredible assistant coaches on board this year. Please join us in welcoming Warner Kornberg, Bella Ryan, Lilly Price, Hank Hamlin, Beau Watson, and Brody Dillon. We can't wait to tell you more about them and watch them inspire our swimmers.
As we dive into the season, we invite you to attend our upcoming orientation meeting on Monday, May 13th where we'll cover important information, answer any questions you may have, and get to know one another better.
Once again, welcome to the Olde Georgetowne Summer Swim Team! Let's make this season one to remember.
Kristen Shaver & Heather Fisher

SCHEDULE:
Please add these dates to your calendar and keep up to date with the team info by opting into the team text alerts when we send out that info.
**May 13 ~ Afternoon practice schedule begins!
**On this day, we ask that parents make every effort to attend the first 20-30 minutes of practice for a brief opening meeting and coach introductions.
May 13 to June 7 – Afternoon practice begins Monday - Friday
4:15 - 5:00 - 6 & under (ONLY M/W/F for Shrimpers)
5:00 - 6:00 OR 6:00 - 7:00 - 7 to 18 year olds**
** New this year - we want to try a flexible practice model for families to pick what works best for your schedule. We will try this and adjust if needed.
**May 30 ~ TIME TRIALS!!!!!
This will take place during normal practice times.
We need to get seed times for our meets beginning next week and start to put together relays. To do this we need to see each child swim each stroke and get a time for them. Please make every effort to have your child here for practice as this day as it is difficult to do make ups.
We will need some parent volunteers to help with timing on this day.
**Also May 30 ~ Swim evaluations (8 & under)
During the time trial, we will check that 8 & under can swim a lap unassisted before they can continue to practice. Even returning 8 and under swimmers. We are not looking for great technique, but the will to do it and complete it! Please make every effort to have your child at practice this day. If for some reason a child is unable to make a lap unassisted, they may continue with practice on this day but will be unable to return unless they are able to complete the lap. OG is open to swimmers of all abilities, but it is not a learn-to-swim program. Our focus is on swimmer development and we cannot do that when we must divert our attention to swimmer safety.
Our coaches will be available for private lessons and at the point where your child can swim a lap unassisted, he/she will be welcomed back onto the swim team!

OTHER INFO:
As always, we have amazing help from our very talented assistant coaching staff. One of the many special parts of the Olde Georgetowne swim program is our valuable high school swimmers. We love that they want to give back to the team that has been such a big part of their lives since they were shrimpers. All of our assistant coaches swam for OG since they were little and bring so much tradition and excitement to the next generation.
We hope this letter helps give you a glimpse into our vision for the season and answer scheduling questions. Please reach out as other questions arise.
We are counting down the days until May 13th…
Go OG!
